Cathayopterus est un genre de ptérosaures ctenochasmatidés provenant de la formation d'Yixian, datée du Crétacé inférieur, située dans le Liaoning. Le nom signifie « aile de Chine », utilisant le mot « Cathay » comme ancien nom alternatif de la Chine. L’espèce type est Cathayopterus grabaui, décrite en 2006 par Wang (d) et Zhou Zhonghe.
