Amazing Armoured Dinosaur Discovery – Japan’s First Definitive Ankylosaur
Ankylosauria Cretaceous Dinosauria discovery fossil +2
A new genus and species of armoured dinosaur has been named from fossils found in Japan. Nipponopelta yezoensis represents the first formally named Japanese ankylosaur. Furthermore, this discovery provides important information about the dispersal of nodosaurids during the Cretaceous Period. The new dinosaur was named and described by an international team of palaeontologists. The research

New giant salamander species discovered in 3.5-million-year-old fossils
discovery fossil Japan new species
Fossils discovered in Japan more than two decades ago have finally been identified as a new genus and species of giant salamander. Limnospondylus ajimuensis lived around 3.5 million years ago in a warmer, wetter Kyushu and may have reached 1.1 meters in length. Its discovery hints that many more unknown giant salamanders could be hiding among fossils previously given the wrong classification.

Who are the Japanese? Huge DNA discovery rewrites history
discovery DNA Japan
Scientists analyzing the genomes of thousands of people across Japan discovered evidence for a previously overlooked third ancestral group, challenging the long-accepted “dual origins” theory. The newly identified ancestry appears linked to the ancient Emishi people of northeastern Japan. Researchers also uncovered inherited Neanderthal and Denisovan DNA connected to conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
